However, Winparts has a little history before then. The van Essen brothers established D-parts in Groningen in 1986. They began offering secondhand BMW auto components here. Their personal malfunctioning BMW E12 sparked their enthusiasm for auto parts. It was soon apparent that finding a replacement for their damaged gearbox would be challenging.
Their only option was to purchase a used automobile. As a result, a donor car was purchased, disassembled, and the gearbox fitted in their own vehicle. D-Parts was founded once the remaining components of the purchased BMW were sold. D-parts relocated to Winneweer in 1987, greatly extending storage space with a warehouse that is more than 10,000m2.
