Tassimo is environmentally conscious. As a result, Tassimo is honoured to be a founding partner of Podback, a new coffee pod recycling service. Podback, the UK's first service of its sort, aims to make recycling coffee pods as simple as making pod coffee. Every order placed on Tassimo's website includes Podback bags, making it quick and easy to recycle your spent pods.
What happens to the pods I've already used?
The coffee pods are collected and transported to a specialised reprocessing plant in the United Kingdom, where the packaging is separated from the used coffee grounds. Coffee grounds are utilised to make a soil improver and a source of renewable energy. Plastic and aluminium will be used to create new items such as beverage cans and plastic garden furniture.
What will happen to the pods after they've been treated and recycled?
Tandom Metallurgical Group Ltd. in Congleton, near Stoke-on-Trent, will reprocess aluminium pods. Roydon in Swinton, near Manchester, will reprocess the plastic pods.
Is it possible to recycle the bags as part of this journey?
Bags from recycling are recovered and utilised to generate electricity.
What is the maximum number of spent pods that can fit into the recycling bags?
The number of pods you need will be determined by the brand of pods you choose. 60 Tassimo T Discs will fit in each bag. For maximum capacity please ensure pods are drained and the bag is filled to the dotted line.
What is the procedure for receiving Podback bags?
Every order placed on Tassimo's website will include Podback bags. You will receive enough Podback bags to cover the number of pods in your order.
Is it necessary to remove the used coffee grounds from the collection bag before placing them in the bag?
No, the reprocessor removes the coffee grounds from the pods. After that, coffee is employed as a soil improver and a source of renewable energy. Before placing your spent pod in your recycling bag, drain any remaining liquid.
Can I return my used pods in other/generic bags?
Used pods will only be accepted in Podback bags at approved drop-off locations or for curbside collection.
Is it possible to recycle the bags as part of the recycling process?
Due to their contact with liquids, labels, and other complicated elements, existing recycling bags are not recycled as part of the recycling process. The bags are rescued from the trash and used to generate energy. In the future, Tassimo will search for ways to recycle these.
What is the best way to obtain recycle bags for Drop Off?
Drop Off bags are available on participating brand websites, and Tassimo expect to see them in supermarkets soon.
