GNL Footwear is a brand founded by Jürg Braunschweiler, a graduate engineer at the renowned Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), who created the first solely with horizontal cushioning as opposed to conventional vertical cushioning in the 1990s. Jürg created his prototype using a garden hose, scissors, and super glue. The garden hose was cut into 13 pieces, which were then glued to the bottom of his shoes. On impact, the rubber hoses shear and break, but they hold up well and are stable during push-off.
GNL Footwear has been in charge of all GNL operations since 2016, eagerly pursuing the objective of revolutionising the footwear sector. Although it has been continuously improved, the fundamental sole technology has not changed. Strong partners like Clinique La Prairie, the prestigious Spa Clinic, and Swiss Sliding recently joined GNL on a mission to transform the footwear sector.
