If your flight is delayed

• If the flight from your origin is delayed within 3 hours before departure, British Airways will automatically rebook the connecting flight that is operated by British Airways to give you more time to connect.
• Please be mindful of the minimum connection times for reaching your flight.
• Being part of the oneworld® alliance, British Airways can provide support through the oneworld Global Support teams at key airports. They can help speed you through the airport, provide up-to-date travel information, new boarding passes and, if required, overnight accommodation.

• British Airways will automatically rebook you to the next available British Airways flight.
• The oneworld Global Support team will be able to help with your journey e.g. provide up-to-date travel information, new boarding passes and, if required, overnight accommodation.
• If you booked your connecting flight separately with another airline, British Airways won't be able to help, even if it is their flight that was delayed. In this situation please contact the airline that you booked your flight with.

• If a delay or cancellation of five hours or more disrupts a connecting flight that you booked under the same booking reference (with a planned connection time of 24 hours or less) and you no longer wish to continue to your final destination, the operating carrier will provide you with a return flight to your original point of departure at the earliest opportunity as well as refund the parts of the journey you did not fly.
• You can claim a refund for the parts of your journey which you did fly, provided that you can prove that the journey no longer serves any purpose in relation to your original travel plans.
• You must then claim this refund at the same time as claiming a refund for the parts of your journey you did not fly.
• To claim a refund, please follow the same steps as for cancelled flights.

How can I make changes to the name on a ticket?

If the name of a person travelling is spelt wrong or doesn't match their name on their passport: Most spelling mistakes in the name of a traveller can be easily corrected over the phone, when all of the flights on their ticket are operated by British Airways. British Airways don't charge for this type of change, however if the taxes, fees, carrier imposed charges or fuel surcharges on the ticket have changed since the booking was made British Airways will need to take any additional money due for them at this point. Please be prepared to send through copies of documents if the Customer Support team need them to support the name correction. It's more complicated when other airlines are on a customer's e-ticket - their agents will be able to explain to you what will happen.

What happens if I exceed my baggage allowance?

If your hand baggage goes over the allowance, you may have to put your larger bag in the hold as checked baggage.

When you’ve used your free checked baggage allowance, you’ll have to pay to put more bags into the hold.

You have 30 days after the last flight in your itinerary to apply for a refund of paid seating, where due. Please apply for your refund on ba.com as British Airways cannot process refunds at the airport or on-board.
