How do I remove deleted tracks from iTunes?
If you’ve cleaned up your iTunes library using Duplicate Cleaner you may notice that the tracks are still shown thereupon starting iTunes. This is because even though they have been deleted from the hard drive they are still in the iTunes database. If you try and click to play on one of the removed songs it will fail because the file has gone.
You could remove these ‘dead’ songs from your library by hand but it could take a long time. The fastest way to it is to use a script - handily Apple provides one.
*Download the RemoveDeadTracks script here.
*Unzip the script somewhere (ideally in your documents folder)
*Double click the RemoveDeadTracks.js file to run the script
iTunes will now open and start removing the dead tracks. You may not notice anything happening and it could take a little while depending on the size of your library. If you look in the Song view, you should see the ‘items’ count reduce at the bottom of the window.
Can I use System Restore to back up/recover deleted or moved files?
Windows System Restore will only change system files, settings and programs. It won’t touch personal files - your own documents, photos, etc. Since Duplicate Cleaner is designed for your own files, and not system files, it is best not to rely on System restore to back up your documents - you should back it up independently.

I have lots of duplicate files found- which ones should I delete?
* Duplicate Cleaner always recommend backing up your files before running any cleanup activity.
* As a general rule you should only delete a file if you know what it is, and you are sure you don’t need it. If you think you might need it then keep it.
* It is always a bad idea to delete files from your Windows and Program Files folders unless you know what you are doing.
* The selection assistant can help with selecting files when you have a large list. You can also set input folders as ‘Protected’ to be sure you are removing files from the correct folder/drive.
